href=\"https:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/docs\/Web\/API\/Web_Serial_API\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Web Serial<\/a\n        >, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.improv-wifi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Improv Wi-Fi<\/a> (optional),\n        and a manifest which describes the firmware. ESP Web Tools detects the\n        chipset of the connected ESP device and automatically selects the right\n        firmware variant from the manifest.\n      <\/p>\n      <p>\n        Web Serial is available in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge\n        browsers<span class=\"not-supported-i hidden\">\n          (but not on your iOS device)<\/span\n        >. Android support should be possible but has not been implemented yet.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <h3 id=\"improv\">Configuring Wi-Fi<\/h3>\n      <p>\n        ESP Web Tools supports the\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.improv-wifi.com\/serial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Improv Wi-Fi serial standard<\/a\n        >. This is an open standard to allow configuring Wi-Fi via the serial\n        port.\n      <\/p>\n      <p>\n        If the firmware supports Improv, a user will be asked to connect the\n        device to the network after installing the firmware. Once connected, the\n        device can send the user to a URL to finish configuration. ESP Web\n        Tools offers users a new installation if it is unable to detect the\n        current firmware of the device (via Improv Serial) or if the detected\n        firmware does not match the name specififed in the manifest.\n      <\/p>\n      <p>\n        When a firmware is first installed on a device, it might need to do some\n        time consuming tasks like initializing the file system. By default ESP\n        Web Tools will wait 10 seconds to receive an Improv Serial response to\n        indicate that the boot is completed. You can increase this timeout by\n        setting the optional manifest key\n        <code>new_install_improv_wait_time<\/code> to the number of seconds to\n        wait. Set to <code>0<\/code> to disable Improv Serial detection.\n      <\/p>\n      <p>\n        If your product accepts donations you can add\n        <code>funding_url<\/code> to your manifest.
